Father Christmas At Fresno Flats

OAKHURST – The public is invited to come and celebrate the season with Father Christmas at Fresno Flats Historic Village and Park on Sunday, Dec. 2, from 11 a.m to 4 p.m.

Father Christmas’s antique car will roll over Deadwood at a respectable18-miles-per-hour, then on to Fresno Flats to delight the children and families gathered in the Historic Village on School Road and welcome the Christmas season.Visitors to the Park will enjoy tasting a variety of delicious soups with drinks and Christmas cookies. The 100-year-old buildings of long ago will be open and decorated for Christmas. A bake sale in the Nathan Sweet Museum will tempt visitors, and candle-making will be available for children of all ages in the Gazebo.

Miniature horses from Weinert’s Diamond W Ranch will be corralled in the Park, and they always attract attention and admiration.

Christmas carols from around the world will bring everyone into the old Cunningham School for a concert with Monica, Kurt and the Morninglory Singers. A Christmas sing-a-long in the finest tradition will warm the crowd’s Christmas spirit, followed by the Chambermaid Singers with Jackie Byers. The final musical event will be the Lutheran Bell Choir of Oakhurst.

Raffle tickets for a complete Christmas Dinner from Raley’s will be sold throughout the afternoon by volunteers for just $1 – a terrific bargain. Second prize will be a decorated table-top Christmas tree to brighten the winner’s home.

Also for sale will be bunches of Kiss-the-Cook Mistletoe and, for the person who has everything, a Christmas pomegranate with a recipe for Holy Guacamole.

For those who wish to contribute, Manna House will be there collecting holiday food donations to make Christmas merrier for families in need.

“This Centennial Christmas at Fresno Flats will be the best Christmas celebration ever given to the community of Oakhurst by the Sierra Historic Sites Association, in honor of the support given to us by Oakhurst this year,” said Director Don Ashton.
