Family Loses Home To Fire On Cinder Lane

OAKHURST – Just after 10:30 p.m. last night firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on Cinder Lane just behind the Sierra Senior Center.

Though Madera County Fire Engine #12 was on scene within minutes of the dispatch, the home was nearly fully involved by the time they arrived.

The homeowner said he had been sitting in the living room when he heard the dogs barking, which alerted him to the flames.

Cal Fire Engines #4254, 4264, 4275, 4285 and 4295 all responded along with Water Tenders 14, 16 and 18. However, with the fire having spread so quickly throughout the home, there was little they could do to save it.

Though the two-story home appears to be a total loss, everyone got out safely and no injuries were reported. There were several other structures on the property, but firefighters contained the blaze to the house, and no other buildings were destroyed.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time and is under investigation.
