HANFORD—The National Weather Service Hanford has issued an Excessive Heat Watch in effect for Tuesday, 8.16.2022, through Friday, 8.20.22. Dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures from 104 to 109 degrees are expected. It all starts with a warming trend for Sunday and Monday.

Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
Warm overnight lows can make those susceptible to heat illness at higher risk. Overnight lows in the 73-79 degree range in urban areas expected.

Be prepared to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air- conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
