Evacuations Lifted On Westfall Fire

MARIPOSA COUNTY — The forward progress of the Westfall Fire, burning in the Lush Meadows area of Mariposa County, has been stopped.

All evacuations have been lifted in the fire area, though the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office reports there is no power.

The fire was reported just after 2:30 p.m. today, burning on the south side of Westfall Road, but quickly jumped the roadway prompting the evacuation on East Westfall Road from Triangle Road to Conifer, and on Old Mill and Smithers. Pre-evacuation warnings were given on Vista Lago and Monte Vista.

East Westfall is open to residents only in the fire area.

Forward progress was stopped at 4:45 p.m., and some resources have been released to a new fire in the Don Pedro area.

Firefighters faced a live safety hazard due to power lines down inside the fire area.

The fire is 100 percent contained at three acres.

We will update if conditions change.
