OAKHURST – Residents were understandably nervous this evening as fire trucks wailed through their neighborhood on John West Road.
Just before 6 p.m., a call came in of a reported vegetation fire on Jean Road West. Engines from Madera County Fire, Cal Fire and Sierra National Forest were dispatched along with dozers, water tenders and aircraft.
The first engine on scene reported that the fire was very small and they had it contained within a few minutes of arrival. All other resources were called off.
With the extremely dry conditions and the limited egress from this neighborhood, everyone is urged to be extremely cautious.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
