Dove Fire Now 100 Percent Contained

MARIPOSA COUNTY — Firefighters made excellent progress on the Dove Fire overnight, and officials now report the fire is 100 percent contained at an estimated 50 acres.

Crews will continue to work on hot spots throughout today and tomorrow. Heavy timber and down fuel will require substantial mop-up work.

There are no aircraft over the fire today. Approximately 100 personnel are currently assigned to the incident.

The Dove Fire was reported just after noon on Tuesday, June 7 at about one-half acre and spread quickly through dry, heavy fuels.

The fire is burning on Sierra National Forest land, but reportedly started on a private parcel within the Forest.

Working in cooperation with SNF are Cal Fire, Mariposa County Fire, Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office and Yosemite National Park.
