Deputy Involved Shooting In Mariposa

MARIPOSA–The Mariposa County Sherriff’s Office (MCSO) is reporting an officer involved shooting took place earlier today. At approximately 11:00am this morning MCSO posted on their Facebook page that there was Law Enforcement Activity in the area of Frank Wilson Rd and that there was no threat to the public, however, to please avoid the area. At the time, The First Baptist Church School was on lock down and more information on how parents could pick up their children would be released soon.

 

At approximately 1:30pm MCSO released the following statement:

“Mariposa County sheriff deputies are currently on scene of a deputy involved shooting. This incident took place on Frank Wilson Rd near the First Baptist Church/ School. A male subject is deceased at the scene. Deputies were responding to a 911 call of a male with a knife attempting to break in to the First Baptist Church / School.

Following the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office policy’s and procedures, all deputies involved in the shooting were immediately placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

No additional details will be released at this time.”
