Coarsegold Practice Successfully Celebrates “Dentistry From The Heart”
COARSEGOLD – Scores of area residents turned out Saturday for Dentistry From The Heart (DFTH), as patients, volunteers and doctors alike deemed the trial event a true success.
The day of free dental service was offered on a first-come, first-served basis by Coarsegold Dental, and is now expected to become an annual event.
Dentistry From The Heart, in the hands of Coarsegold Dental, helped 92 area residents by performing nearly $30,000 in free dental work during the clinic, which lasted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Drs. Travis Kendall, Jacob Geyer and Eric Francom spent Saturday on volunteer duty, as they cleaned, filled and, in some cases, even pulled teeth in what turned out to be a genuinely needed day of free care intended as a way of giving back to the mountain area community.
“It was wonderful to be able to help so many people in need of dental care,” said the doctors in a joint statement. “There were a lot of hugs and smiles shared today, which for us, is what this day was all about.”
Since its 2001 inception, DFTH national has grown to include over 200 annual events nationwide, and given more than 45,000 people free dental service. This was the first event of its kind in Coarsegold.
“We are so grateful to be a part of this great community,” added the tenacious trio, “and this was just an incredible experience for us and our staff to be able to give back and show our appreciation.”
Local DFTH organizers are smiling all over, reports marketing director Ryan Eckstein of the practice.
“The doctors and staff were so thrilled to have shared that experience with the community,” Eckstein says.” They were all saying how much they are looking forward to next year’s event.”
Great news all around!
