City Of Tuolumne Evacuation Advisory

TUOLUMNE COUNTY- An evacuation advisory has been issued for the City of Tuolumne and Ponderosa Hills. This advisory has been issued by the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. An evacuation order is issued when there is an immediate threat to life and/or property.

The Rim Fire has been raging through the Groveland Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest, and entered Yosemite National Park between Lake Eleanor and Cherry Lake overnight.

It continues to move north and east, and had grown to well over 100,000 acres.

Rim Fire at night - photo from inciweb.orgThe fire continues to move in the direction of Hetch Hetchy, and is now the largest fire in the country, according to YNP Superintendant Don Neubacher.

Governor Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency for Tuolumne County yesterday.

Highway 120 is closed east of Groveland, to the Big Oak Flat Entrance of the park. The Hetch Hetchy area remains closed until further notice, while Tioga Road remains open.

The Groveland Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest has also been closed to the public. Click here for a closure map.
