NORTH FORK — Once again, the North Fork Women’s Club put on a great chili cookoff! There was awesome chili, pies, cakes, and great live music by Transfer Station. There were also some wonderful raffle and auction prizes supplied by club members such as beautiful baskets with beer, coffee, manly man things, kids games, toys, and even a mink Teddy Bear. The BBQ and rolling tables were both especially big hits!
Sorry if you missed it, but there will be another one next year. Start planning now!
The Winner’s List
- Julie Smith of The Rusty Piston won 1st Place from the Judges and 1st Place in the People’s Choice category.
- Sandra Delgado won 2nd Place in the People’s Choice category.
- Mary Sholler won for Best Pie.
- Roz Thrapp won for Best Cake.
Women’s Club members Mary and Roz were nice enough to donate their prizes back to the club!
The North Fork Women’s Club would like to thank everyone who came out to Bandit Town to enjoy the chili, music, and all the good old-fashioned fun!
They had a great turnout and all of their proceeds go to their scholarship fund, which is their main objective in raising money each year. The club provides four $1,000 scholarships for young women in our mountain community that are graduating from high school. With the onset of COVID-19 they have seen less and less applicants for the money. So let’s get the word out!
Scholarship requirements are pretty simple:
- A grade point average of 3.5 or better.
- A general need of funding.
- A real community spirit!
They would really love to give away all four scholarships this year!
