Children's Museum Takes Difficult Step

Over the past several months, the staff and volunteers at the Children’s Museum of the Sierra have been over whelmed by our community’s support. The number of people who have come forward with donations of time, money, materials and more to ensure this community treasure remains open has been heartwarming to say the very least.

As we continue to move forward, offering new programs and other services to the community, the truth of the matter is we can’t expect such generosity to continue without also moving to better ensure self-sufficiency. Our current pricing level actually has us operating at a deficit when the cost of doing business is factored in.

As such, we’ve come to the difficult decision to enact a slight price increase. General admission will go to $6 from the previous $4. Prearranged non-educational groups of ten or more will go to $2 per person from the prior $1. Annual memberships are similarly being adjusted; Family memberships will now be $75, Contributor level will now be $100. A full rate schedule is available on our Facebook page or at the Museum website.

We honestly didn’t feel right continuing to come to the community with fundraisers when we didn’t make this simple, small change to help close the gap. In the meantime, the museum will continue to update existing exhibits, offer exciting new ones and introduce more programs that will enhance the education of our children and the museum’s value to the community.

We truly appreciate the support of our residents, and look forward to serving you and your families for years to come.
