Stanley Gerome Whitson

August 28, 1928 to December 21, 2023

We lovingly remember Stanley Gerome Whitson, a beacon of joy and community spirit at Bass Lake, California. Born on August 28, 1928, in Bakersfield, Stanley’s journey led him to the tranquil beauty of Bass Lake following a distinguished career as an electrician. Stanley has been a part of the Bass Lake community since the 1950s.

In Bass Lake, Stanley became a cherished figure at The Little Church in the Pines. His dedication to the community was evident in the laughter and friendship he spread. He was renowned for his homemade ice cream, a highlight of the Fourth of July celebrations, and perfect pairing with the chocolate cake made by his wife of 73 years, Wanda Jo Whitson. He cherished watching fireworks on the lake with his family. Stanley’s love for vintage vehicles shone brightly as he drove his Model T in the North Fork Parade, delighting children and adults alike.

His commitment to the community extended to volunteering for the Grizzly Gravel & Century Charity Rides, contributing to causes that helped his community thrive. Stanley’s passion for life, his love for his family, and his unwavering commitment to his community will be forever cherished.

Stanley is predeceased by his children, Cathryn Stewart and Neil Whitson. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 73 years, Wanda Jo Whitson, and is lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren, Liz Ranalli, Jeffrey Whitson, Jacob Whitson, Carrie Waltner, Jon Stewart, and Rachelle Reed, alongside many great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of his kind and adventurous spirit.

We invite friends and family to join us in celebrating Stanley’s life at a memorial service to be held on February 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at The Little Church in the Pines in Bass Lake, California. As we gather to remember Stanley, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, adventure, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.

Rest in peace, Stanley Gerome Whitson, a true friend and cherished member of the Bass Lake community.
