Christine L. Hudson, a resident of Oakhurst, California, passed away on March 12, 2023, at the age of 74. Born on January 30, 1949, in Oakland, California, she was the daughter of Lewis R. Hudson and Elaine Hudson.

After graduating from Hayward High School in 1967, Christine attended Healds Business College. She then worked at Seafarers in San Francisco from July 1968 to September 1978, before working at AT&T for 30 years as a Long Distance Traffic Engineer and Planner in Dublin and Pleasanton, California.

In 2004, Chris moved to Oakhurst where she continued to work for AT&T remotely until she retired in 2008. She spent her retirement years pursuing many hobbies, including stained glass work, paper crafts, and quilting, always showing talent and resourcefulness in the task at hand.

Her love for quilting led her to become involved with the Sierra Mountain Quilters Association (SMQA), where she held various positions, including President in 2016 and 2017. Chris was quick to volunteer for many different positions in SMQA. She made and donated many quilts through the SMQA Cuddle Quilt Program and was the Cuddle Quilt Chairperson in early 2022.

Chris took on the position of Big Sisters-Little Sisters in 2017, which became Member Services, and again renamed New Member Support in 2020. In this position (which she created and held for five years), she welcomed new members into her sewing studio to get to know them on a one-on-one basis and explain the many nuances of the quilt guild. Christ had a way of making everyone feel special and like they were one of her favorites.

Christine was preceded in death by her father Lewis R. Hudson, sister Shirlee Mae Hudson, and half-brother Steven Hansleman. She is survived by her mother Elaine Hudson; sister Denise Lynn, brother-in-law Dan Lynn; nieces Jordyn Lynn and Ryien Zambrano; Ryien’s husband Kai Zambrano; great-nephew Eli Zambrano; and her beloved fur babies: Honey, Daisy, Pookie, Zac, Sid the Kid, and Zoey.

Chris will be remembered for her warm and welcoming personality, her fondness of animals, her love of quilting, and her dedication to the SMQA. A strong and confident leader, loyal and trustworthy friend, devoted daughter, aunt and sister are just a few of the ways to describe her.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held at her sewing studio in Oakhurst on June 3rd from noon to 3 p.m. This is an Open House. Plan to come and go as you please.

Remembrances can be given to the Eastern Madera County SPCA.
