FRESNO STATE — The Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band will perform at the 2025 Rose Parade, in Pasadena, CA. This is the band’s second appearance at the prestigious event in just two years. The Tournament of Roses Association recently selected the band, which will be one of the 20 groups to march in the 136th annual parade.
A Return to Pasadena
The Bulldogs’ last performance at the Rose Parade was on January 2, 2023. It was a cool, bright morning and was around 55 degrees. The 270-member band took the stage as the final entry of the day. The parade’s theme that year was “Turning the Corner”. This was especially fitting as it marked the first in-person Rose Parade since COVID-19 restrictions were lifted.
However, for the Fresno State Marching Band, the theme also had a more literal meaning. As they came to the famous “broadcast corner”– a sharp 110-degree turn onto Colorado Boulevard— the band didn’t miss a beat. Of course, spectators were shocked as the Bulldogs tuned the corner. Undoubtedly, the band was giving a high-energy performance that was a hit with fans and TV hosts alike.
“I want to get in my car and drive to Fresno right now!” claims KTLA host Mark Steines.
Excitement for the 2025 Parade
Now, the band is gearing up for an even bigger performance at the 2025 parade. This years theme will be “Best Day Ever”.
“We are honored that the Tournament of Roses committee felt that our band gave one of the best performances in recent memory and have invited us back,” said Steve McKeithen. “We look forward to the challenge of raising our already high bar for the second Rose Parade appearance in program history.”
Additionally, millions of people around the world will be watching the 2025 Rose Parade. Thus, offering the Fresno State band another opportunity to showcase their talent. Dr. Honora Chapman, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at Fresno State, shared her excitement for the bands return.
“We are thrilled that the Bulldog Marching Band will be representing Fresno State once again in the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day,” Chapman said. “We hope that many Bulldogs will join us in Pasadena to cheer them on.”
In addition to the Rose Parade, the band will perform in the Tournament of Roses Band Fest. There they will be join other participating marching bands in a special field show that highlights their musicianship and pageantry.
