Attention First Responders: Training Opportunities Available

If you’re a first responder, a community volunteer, or in charge of the safety response for your company – or your neighborhood, school or church – these free training sessions are for you.

“Mindful Disaster Planning: The Needs of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing” will be held at Sierra Ambulance, 40755 Winding Way, in Oakhurst, on Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.The same training will be held in Madera, at the Madera County Department of Social Services, 700 E. Yosemite, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 27.

These training sessions will focus on the use of technology as a communication tool within the deaf and hard-of-hearing population in this area. Shelter needs during an emergency situation and cultural issues will also be discussed.

Seating is limited, so if you plan to attend, you must RSVP to Marisol Torres, at 559-675-7893 or marisol.torres@madera-county.com, no later than Sept. 20.
