O’NEALS–Air and ground firefighters are responding to a vegetation fire in the area of Road 200 and Circle J Ranch. The fire is reported to be 10 acres burning at a critical rate of spread with structures involved. This will be the Circle Fire. We will update this article when more information is available.

The fire is 50% contained per CALFIRE. The evacuation warnings remain in place.
Update 3:25 pm
Evacuation Zones MAD-E1029 and MAD-E1035 have been downgraded to an evacuation warning per the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Forward progress of the fire has been stopped. Firefighters will remain on scene 5-6 hours for mop up.

An Evacuation Order has been issued for MAD-E1029 MAD-E1035 due to the Circle Fire. There is an immediate threat to life. This is an evacuation order to leave now. The area is being closed to public access. Take action immediately. If you’re in need of evacuation assistance, call 9 1 1. An evacuation shelter is to be determined.
