COARSEGOLD — The Coarsegold Rodeo Grounds, a beloved local landmark with more than five decades of history, has new owners ready to bring fresh energy to the site. Ryan and Melissa Steward, a family from Friant, have taken on the task of revitalizing the property while preserving its rustic charm. The couple’s plans promise to honor the past while preparing the grounds for an even more vibrant future.
Historic Grounds Enter a New Chapter
The Coarsegold Rodeo Grounds has been home to the annual Coarsegold Rodeo for over 50 years. Generations of families have made memories at the grounds, and the Stewards plan to keep that tradition going.
Moreover, the couple will begin by upgrading the restrooms, seating, and other facilities. Therefore, their goal is to enhance visitor comfort. Additionally, they plan to bring back horse boarding and add short-term RV camping. Landscaping improvements will follow, along with efforts to expand event offerings. More rodeos and community gatherings are on the horizon. Meanwhile, the Coarsegold Stampede Non-Profit will continue to organize the annual Coarsegold Rodeo, set for the first weekend of May.
“The Coarsegold Rodeo Grounds is such an important part of the town’s history and culture,” said Melissa Steward. “We feel honored to become the new stewards of this property. Our goal is to preserve its rustic feel while making some improvements to ensure it remains a welcoming and functional space for community events for generations.”
Support from the Community
Furthermore, Kelly Anderson, Vice President of the Coarsegold Stampede Non-Profit, supports the Stewards’ plan.
“We’re excited to see some revitalization of the rodeo grounds under new ownership,” said Kelly Anderson.
Anderson continues, “The Stewards share our vision for keeping the nostalgic feel of this place while making it more comfortable and functional. This will ensure the grounds remain the heart of our community for years to come.”
Honoring the Past, Preparing for the Future
Overall, with the Stewards leading the way, the Coarsegold Rodeo Grounds will honor its storied past while preparing for a bright future. Their plans promise to strengthen the site’s role as a cornerstone of local traditions and events.
