9th Annual Cowboy Christmas Concert Coming to Oakhurst

OAKHURST — Get ready everyone, because the 9th Annual Cowboy Christmas Concert is coming to the Oakhurst Lutheran Church on Sunday, December 4, with performances at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Tim Johnson has put together another great Cowboy Christmas Concert this year. The Cowboy Band of Tim Johnson, Keith Johnson, Cliff Neufield, Candy Cobb, Cheryl Bilieu, Lamar Leathers, and Mark Campos will be joined by special guest Bobby Black.

Don’t forget! There will be two concerts, one at 2:30 and another at 6:30 p.m.

Tim Johnson has played with the Sons of the San Joaquin — Jack, Joe, Lon, and Bill Thornbury — as fiddler, from 2000-2007. During this period, they performed to a sold-out audience at Carnegie Hall, collected many awards, such as induction into the Western Music Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Western Music Associations (WMA) Group of the Year in 2007.

Tim received the WMA Instrumentalist of the Year Award in 2007 upon the release of his solo fiddle album, “American Fiddler,” in the same year.

Bobby Black is a world renowned master of the pedal steel and lap steel guitar who was inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame in 2004.

Over the years Bobby has performed with Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen, Asleep at the Wheel, New Riders of the Purple Sage, The Sir Douglas Quintet, Texas Tornadoes, Doug Sahm, Barbara Mandrell, Dolly Parton, David Allan Coe, Norton Buffalo, Bill Kirchen, Kitaro, David Gans, Robert Gordon, Ray Price, Webb Pierce, Merle Travis, Rusty Draper, Jim Reeves, Tommy Duncan, Sue Thompson, Tommy Sands, Joan Blackman (Elvis movies), Eddie and Hank Cochran (Cochran Brothers), Cal Smith, Spade Cooley, Pee Wee Whitewing, Louis Tierney, Gene Vincent, Dobie Gray, The Coasters, Mel Carter, Dick and Dee Dee, Grand Ole Opry, The Wilburn Brothers Show, Linda Hargrove, Lattislaw, Stolen Roses (Songs of the Grateful Dead), and many, many more.
