Zero-Tolerance Warning for Illegal Fireworks

MADERA COUNTY — The Madera County Supervisors and Madera County Sheriff join forces in a new video PSA to combat the use of illegal fireworks with enhanced fines and ordinance now in place.

Safety & Fire Safety

Safety and fire prevention are of the highest priority during this Fourth of July holiday weekend, which remains the busiest time for law enforcement and firefighters.

*ONLY SAFE AND SANE FIREWORKS ARE LEGAL IN THE VALLEY*

ALL fireworks — including Safe and Sane — are banned in the foothill regions. Under the county’s new ordinance, fines for illegal fireworks are steep:

  • 1st offense – $1,000
  • 2nd offense – $5,000
  • 3rd offense or more – $10,000

Each offense is cited individually—5 fireworks could cost you $36,000 in fines. If someone is injured or killed due to illegal use, you could face felony charges. Property owners can also be cited, even if they didn’t ignite the fireworks.

Celebrate responsibly and keep your community safe this Independence Day!
