Yosemite Western Artists Showcase And Sale

AHWAHNEE – Members of Yosemite Western Artists (YWA) invite the community to stop by their collective home at Gertrude Schoolhouse on Saturday, Nov. 4, for the YWA annual Artists Showcase from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Gertrude Schoolhouse is located on Road 600 just off Highway 49 in Ahwahnee.

Yosemite Western Artists is an association of artists and art patrons dedicated to promoting visual arts in the western Yosemite area and foothills. YWA has been offering art workshops, demos and social gatherings for painters and photographers since 1969.

“Many of the artists participate in the plein air, portrait, photography and digital arts groups and this is a great way to showcase the work created throughout the year” says Gina Mims, Vice President of YWA. “It’s also an affordable way for people to purchase art for themselves or gifts for others.”

The Artist Showcase will feature painting, fiber art, photography and more from artists including Kerby and Lura Smith, Suzanne Banks, Laura Fisher, Jennifer Moss, Mary Harsh, Mary Jane Brewster, Doug Boomer, Barbara Liss, Juanita Smith, Phyllis McAdams and Gina Mims. A majority of the pieces will be available for sale.

“The group is diverse and we are open and supportive of all artist regardless of level or mediums,” Gina emphasizes. “This event is a fun way to share what we create with others in the community.” she said.

In addition to the showcase, it is the perfect opportunity to drop in to learn more about the group if you’re interested in joining the local art scene or are a patron of the arts.
