Yosemite High Sports Round-Up

Written by YHS sophomore Garrett White and freshman Ron Luther

OAKHURST – Yosemite High school sports this year have been absolutely fabulous. From the success of the teams and the work put in by every individual, this year’s sports have been memorable.

YHS fall sports consist of football, volley ball, water polo, cross country, and girls tennis. Every one of these teams has had a good season, and was very entertaining to watch.

Football has been a great improvement from last year and has been inspiring to every football player in the future. This year one of the first wins was against the Roughriders at home. This game was a great motivator for our football team to do well this year. In the picture above you see running back Hunter Fisk taking the ball for a gain of yards. Hunter was one of the starting running backs for this year’s junior varsity team. Overall, football had a very improved year from last year’s season.

The volley ball program has a freshman team, a junior varsity team and a varsity team, with a good number of players on each team making it a very successful year.

Cross country has been very successful as well. The cross country team has a large number of people on it, making the people in cross country 15% of the students that attend YHS.

Water polo, also being a very intense sport, has done outstanding this year.

They have demolished in every single game with the exception of a couple of games against the Kingsburg water polo team.

They have one of the league’s best teams for water polo and have had a great time over the season.

The girls varsity golf team has almost made it to a state competition for their outstanding performance. If they do end up going to the state competition, it will be held in San Diego.

All of the competition this year has been great, and has only made every single YHS fall sports team better.
