BEST IN SHOW!
If you’ve been wondering what the Yosemite High School Marching Band has been up to, here’s your answer.
Yosemite High School’s Advanced Percussion group gave an outstanding performance at this year’s 9/11 Remembrance at Sierra Telephone.
Junior High Night on Sept. 20 was another exciting experience for the middle school kids to perform with the high schoolers during our home football game against Roosevelt High School. These junior high kids who have selected band as their elective, travel to the high school four days a week for music class as their first period.
The following day, on Sept. 21, the Mountain Heritage Days Parade was a huge success for the YHS Band under the direction of Randy Hyatt and Drum Major Hunter Murphy.
The band marched back to campus with the “Best in Show” award for their performance of “Batman the Movie” motion picture theme. Congratulations!
After a week off from marching practice, they were back on the field practicing for their next big performance on Oct. 12th at the 33nd Annual Invitational Visalia Band Review.
This will be the band’s first time participating in this band review, and Visalia just happens to be Director Randy Hyatt’s home town. Personally, I am looking forward to what promises to be an exciting day watching our kids perform along with the many talented bands from all over the Central Valley area.
Our next big event after the Visalia Band Review will be the Veteran’s Day Parade in Fresno…I heard a whisper that YHS will be marching and performing together with three other local high school bands…now that will be something to see!
See you all in the bleachers!
