OAKHURST — With girls volleyball well underway in the mountain area, the Yosemite High School volleyball team is a force to be reckoned with.

For a second straight year the Badgers were invited to play at the Mammoth Invitational Tournament and for the second straight year — they won it all. It does not stop there.

The varsity Badgers’ record is 20/5, with a fresh victory against Kerman on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

The game to watch will be at home on Thursday Sept. 20th against Liberty — when the Lady Badgers varsity team will take the court at 6 p.m. This will be the second North Sequoia League match for the Badgers. The team is coached by Michele Chenowith.

The Badgers’ JV team was also present at the Mammoth tournament. The JV team was hit hard with recent injuries, but not much could keep the players off the court. After taping up and pushing forward with true mountain grit, the JV girls took 6th place — not too shabby considering they went up against all varsity teams. They recently clawed their way to a win against Madera and Kerman.

JV will be playing at home against Liberty on Thursday at 5 p.m. The team is coached by Mandy Ades and Kailei Gould.

The Frosh team is also showing their badger teeth. They recently played a tournament at Hoover High. The Frosh team had a win against Minarets on 9/6. They will face off again on YHS’s home court on Thursday at 4 p.m. The team is coached by Ryan Madaus.

Yosemite High School is part of the Yosemite Unified School District.
