BASS LAKE — Travelers along the north shore of Bass Lake this Saturday should be prepared for delays, or choose an alternate route until about 10:30 a.m.
Vacation Races, an event company that produces half-marathon races centered around breathtaking National Parks and Forest Service Lands, will be holding its Inaugural Yosemite Half Marathon around Bass Lake on Saturday, Oct. 8.
The event will take place from 7:15 to 10:30 a.m. During these hours there will be 2,500 runners starting on 6S40 off Sky Ranch Rd and then coming down Beasore Road and crossing onto Road 274 from Beasore Road to The Pines. The road will be closed to accommodate the runners.
North Shore Road (Road 432) will be open but will have heavy runner traffic from The Pines to Recreation Point Campground on Road 222. Traffic will continue to operate, but drivers should expect heavy delays. If at all possible, please avoid vehicular traffic during these hours.
The event coordinators would like to express their apology for any inconvenience this may cause residents.
“We are so grateful to the communities that allow us to put on these events. Without their cooperation it just wouldn’t be possible,” said Director of Race Operations Lyle Anderson.
“The town of Bass Lake has been so helpful and supportive, we really appreciate being allowed to run in their community. We’re sorry for any temporary inconvenience our event causes.”
Vacation Races operates this activity under a U.S. Forest Service special use permit with the Sierra National Forest. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the race production company.
