Yosemite Control Burn Update

YOSEMITE – Today fire crews completed ignition of 55 acres in Yosemite Valley.

A portion of the Valley Loop Trail has been temporarily closed to ensure safety during this project. Smoke is visible throughout several locations in the park and you can expect to drive through it in the active area when you exit Yosemite Valley. Please reduce your speed and watch for firefighters on the road.

Tomorrow, March 15th, 2022 we are planning on additional burning and will be monitoring conditions and progress.

Burning during this time of year, when conditions are just right, helps to create a healthier forest and lowers the risk of more dangerous fires in the future. Native plants benefit and invasive ones are more controlled.
