YHS Girls Golf Beats Madera

OAKHURST – The Yosemite High School Girls Golf team got off to a great start yesterday, when they played Madera High School at Sierra Meadows and beat them by a score of 144 – 92.

The scoring is based on a modified Stableford system in which Birdies are worth 7 points, Pars 5, Bogies 3, Double Bogies 2 and Triple Bogies 1.

The team was led by returning senior Jessica Rudd, who shot an even par round of 36, which netted her 45 points. She was followed up by upstart Freshman, Claire Oetinger who shot 43 and scored 32 points. Kelsi Stieler gave the team 27 points. These three were supported by Jordyn Ahrens, scoring 25 points, and Libby Haggard with 15.

Rusty Oetinger is an instructor and golf coach at YHS.
