Work Begins On Road 425B Bridge

OAKHURST – Construction crews are starting phase one of the project to replace and widen the bridge at Road 425B and Road 426.

The $1.4 million project will be completed in two phases to allow traffic to continue to access Road 425B at this location during construction.

According to Ahmad Alkhayyat, Madera County Senior Civil Engineer, they will first build the new side of the bridge, which is to be twice as wide as the current one. When that is finished, they will divert traffic onto the new section, then demolish the old bridge and begin construction on the other half.

Work is expected to be completed some time in July 2014, assuming everything goes well, the weather cooperates and there are no surprises.

The contractor on this project is Dawson-Mauldin, Inc., out of Fresno.
