Woman Dies In Head-On Crash On Highway 145

MADERA COUNTY – A head-on collision on Highway 145 just east of Highway 41 has claimed the life of a Coarsegold woman and her dog.

Just after 5 p.m. this afternoon a tour bus filled with passengers was hit head-on when a small sedan, driven by a woman who has yet to be identified, veered into its lane, according to CHP.

Engines from Cal Fire and Madera County Fire Department responded to the scene, along with CHP, EMS and the Sheriff’s Office. Traffic was diverted around the crash scene as emergency personnel checked out all the tour bus passengers. None was reported injured.

Highway 145 was closed for several hours as the scene was cleared. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. A dog also riding in the vehicle was badly injured and subsequently died.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
