Winter Storm Watch For The Sierra Nevada

YOSEMITE — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada from Yosemite National Park to Kings Canyon and Tulare County mountains, from overnight Wednesday through early Saturday morning, Mar. 3.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

The storm watch is in effect from 4 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 1 through 4 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 3.

Heavy snow possible is possible, with total snow accumulations of 16 to 24 inches, and localized amounts up to 36 inches in the forecast.

Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute on Thursday, says the NWS, warning that tree branches could fall and significant reductions in visibility are possible.
