Winter Storm Warning For Sierra Nevada

YOSEMITE — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada from Yosemite National Park to Kings Canyon and Tulare County mountains, including Bass Lake, from 4 a.m Thursday, Mar. 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 3.

Heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 18 to 30 inches, and localized amounts up to 48 inches above 7,000 feet.

Travel will be very difficult to impossible, including during the evening commute on Thursday, says the NWS, noting that tree branches could fall and travelers should be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
