Winter Storm Warning For Bass Lake, Fish Camp, Yosemite

MOUNTAIN AREA — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Warning for snow for the Sierra Nevada from Yosemite to Kings Canyon, including the towns of Bass Lake, Fish Camp, Wawona, Tuolumne Meadows, Devils Postpile, Florence Lake, and Lake Thomas Edison. The Warning is currently in effect from 1 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 13 to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 14, above 6,000-feet.

Heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 8-to-16-inches, with localized amounts up to 21-inches, are expected. The snow level is predicted to start near 8,000-feet and lower to 5,000-feet on Wednesday with 3-5 inches of snow possible in some areas.

Plan on difficult travel conditions, say the experts, including during the evening commute on Tuesday, and be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Call 5 1 1 for the latest road conditions.
