MADERA – As the second annual Madera Pomegranate Celebration nears, organizers are once again soliciting pomegranate infused recipes for the National Pomegranate Recipe Contests sponsored by Stiebs.
“Recipes can use pomegranate arils, pomegranate juice, or juice concentrate,” said KC Pomering, a member of the Madera Chamber of Commerce’s Tourism Alliance which puts on the festival. There are three categories for the contest, one for home cooks, one for professional chefs and one for best pomegranate beverage or cocktail. Winners from each category will receive $500 and have their recipe published by the Pomegranate Festival and Stiebs.
“The tangy, tart and sweet flavor of pomegranates can kick up the flavor of almost any recipe. We want to see just how creative all of the home cooks, professional chefs and mixologists can be,” said Pomering.
Interested parties can enter their recipe at www.pomegranatefestival.com and following the directions there. Entries must be submitted by October 23. Judging will be at The Vineyard restaurant in Madera on Tuesday, Oct. 30 during a live remote broadcast with Clayton Clark on KMPH’s Great Day.
The winners of each category will be announced at the second annual Madera Pomegranate Festival at the Madera Municipal Airport, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3.
