Willow Fire Community Meeting

NORTH FORK –  Incident personnel from the Willow Fire will be hosting a community meeting Saturday, Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. at the North Fork Town Hall, located at 33060 Rd 228.

Incident Managers will be talking about current and expected fire behavior, evacuation status and addressing other concerns the community may have due to the Willow Fire.

Representatives from the Incident Management Team, Sierra National Forest, Cal-Fire, and Madera County Sheriff’s Department will be present to answer questions from the public.

  1. Possible to record this willow fire community meeting and upload it to your site, UTube or some other readily assessable site so that those of us who had to evacuate but cannot attend the meeting in person can get the information shared?

  2. You folks at Sierra News Online do great work. Look forward to your report. When do the Unified Command representatives think we will be allowed to return to our homes in the Woods? Days, weeks, to early to tell?

    • If all goes as planned, they are looking at possible, POSSIBLY 48 hours. They don’t want to repopulate and then have to re-evacuate, so they will err on the side of caution. It’s just a matter of how the burnout operations go, and how much the weather cooperates with that. Thanks Paul!

  3. Our family wants to send a gift to the firefighters to thank them for their hard work. Is a monetary gift appropriate? How do we go about this?

    • I doubt that a monetary gift to individual groups of firefighters would be deemed appropriate, however there are many organizations, such as Fire Department Auxiliaries and funds for injured firefighters that would be very appreciative of your gift. You can call the public information number at the fire camp, 559-877-7449, and I’m sure they would be happy to help you.
