Wilderness Marijuana Eradicated Near Mariposa

MARIPOSA COUNTY – Late Friday afternoon, Apr. 25, deputies from the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office, following up on a tip of a large marijuana grow in the Crown Lead Road area of Coulterville, located and eradicated 11,216 plants.

This grow is believed to belong to Mexican Drug Trafficking Organizations that have been operating in the area for some time.

The total for all marijuana eradication operations completed last Friday was 28,070 plants.

Pre-season activity is indicating a challenging wilderness marijuana season this year, according the Sheriff Doug Binnewies. The Sheriff’s Office is requesting those who see suspicious activity including food and gardening supplies, irrigation hose, and digging activity in rural and wilderness areas, report the observations to law enforcement. Do not approach such operations.
