Wild And Scenic Rivers Celebrated In Film

MARIPOSA — Join the Upper Merced River Watershed Council and friends as they celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the passage of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act in El Portal on Saturday night, Oct. 6, with a special showing of 10 films showcasing frontline activism and stunning cinematography.

Featured will be a collection of 10 films from this year’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival, which is held in Nevada City each January.

The El Portal Community Hall doors open at 5 p.m., and the Sonora Taco Truck will be on hand for dinner. Beer and soft drinks will be available. The films, introduced by a special guest and local celebrity, will start at 6 p.m.

Tickets are required and available for purchase on the Upper Merced River Watershed Council, merced-river.org. $8 per person for advance purchase; $10 at the door, $2 for children. The proceeds of the event will benefit the Watershed Council.
