Wednesday Morning Crash Halts Highway 41 Traffic Near Coarsegold

COARSEGOLD — A three-car accident closed Highway 41 north of Road 200 for more than an hour Wednesday morning.

The incident happened about 10:30 a.m. near the Black Hawk Lodge.

CHP reported the accident occurred when a white sedan collided with a white SUV. A third vehicle, a grey SUV, was also involved.

Multiple ambulances and tow trucks were called to the scene and CHP reported “minor” injuries.

Traffic on Highway 41 was stalled in both directions for much of the morning as tow trucks were caught up in the traffic jam and workers cleaned up debris from the collision.

CHP also called a blood technician to the scene, which is standard practice when DUI is suspected.

Later still-unconfirmed reports from the scene said one person was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
