Anyone with a Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), which is a retirement savings and investment plan for federal employees and members of the armed forces, is being warned about the dangers of a free iPhone app available at the Apple App Store.
Program officials on the TSP website caution that this app could pose a security risk, and is not sanctioned by TSP.They warn that there are a number of mobile applications that reference the Thrift Savings Plan and may prompt users for their TSP account credentials.
“These applications are NOT sponsored by the TSP, and the TSP does not recommend using this application to access your TSP account,” the notice says. “The TSP cannot endorse any information or advice provided by third-party applications, and providing this information could result in a security risk to your account.”
