Preservation Work Continues On Two Yosemite Bridges Through November

Starting Monday, October 12, crews will commence repair work on the El Capitan Bridge in Yosemite Valley and on the East Fork of the Cascade Creek Bridge on the El Portal Road. The work will continue through the end of November, 2020 and they are planning to work from 7AM to 7PM, Monday through Friday. The work on these road bridges will include single lane traffic control with up to 15-minute delays.

Wilderness Volunteers for Winter 2020/21

The Wilderness Branch is seeking 2-4 full time volunteers for the winter season. Volunteers will provide wilderness education through issuing overnight permits, conduct Nordic ski patrols, assist with snow surveys, and provide support to other projects in the Wilderness as time allows.

Volunteers will work from approximately mid-December through early April.  Housing is very limited this year and may be provided on a case by case basis. Experience skiing and WFR/EMT certification is preferred but not required. Final selections will be made by the end of October. If interested in this opportunity, please send a resume detailing your wilderness travel, winter skills, and public speaking experience to jeff_webb@nps.gov.

NPS Vegetation Needs Local Volunteers

NPS Vegetation is seeking local volunteers to plant at Camp 4 this October 14-15. Vegetation will be putting 450 plants in the ground, and need extra hands to get this work done.  Come outside, learn about Yosemite’s restoration projects, and enjoy the park. It’s a large area, and volunteers and staff will be dispersed throughout. Tasks include: planting, sowing native seed, watering, collecting and moving duff and logs. All activities are subject to cancellation due to smoke impacts. Pre-Registration required with Molly_Downer@nps.gov.
