Visit Yosemite Madera County: January Is Restaurant Month

MOUNTAIN AREA — Here’s a tasty and timely reminder: throughout January, local businesses are celebrating California Restaurant Month.

California is the number one food destination for travelers in America, according to Visit California. In January, a handful of mountain restaurants are offering prix fixe menus and specials at affordable prices to encourage visitors to dine out in different restaurants.

“Restaurant Month is an incredible opportunity to take advantage of some of our most authentic culinary experiences not available at any other time of the year,” notes Therese Williams of Visit Yosemite Madera County.

“January is also a great time to get hotel deals and experience the diversity of what our destination offers, from hiking to wine tasting.”

Here are some local specials for Restaurant Month:

Ducey’s on the Lake, The Pines Resort at Bass Lake
Executive Chef Johnathan Frabotta will prepare a three-course dinner including salad, Harris Ranch filet mignon, and dessert paired with a glass of local house wine at $30 per person.

Erna’s Elderberry House at Chateau du Sureau in Oakhurst
Starting Jan. 14, guests may enjoy a special visit to Erna’s Elderberry House for a three-course menu at $48 per person (regularly $75). Reservations recommended: (559) 683-6800.

Mountain Room at Yosemite Valley Lodge in Yosemite
A special three-course meal includes shrimp-tini cocktail, chipotle aioli, tortilla strips, roasted chicken with rice, tomatoes and zucchini, and chocolate cake for $40 per person.

South Gate Brewing Company
Brewmaster Rick Boucke has introduced a Yuzu IPA  made with a Yuzu puree — tart citrus fruit that resembles a cross between grapefruit and mandarin orange.

In addition to the restaurants participating in the current promotion, Oakhurst Grill & Whiskey 41 Lounge at the Best Western Yosemite Gateway is also open for your dining pleasure. For more information about California Restaurant Month, visit YosemiteThisYear.com
