Yosemite Valley Information Station Location Shift Sunday

The Yosemite Valley Information Station will be shifting locations to behind the Visitor Center on Sunday, November 1. This new location will provide better weather-proof, outside shelter for the changing seasons. There will be increased A-Frame signage between Degnan’s Deli and the visitor center, to create a clear path to the back of the Visitor Center. The information station will be open 9am-4:30pm. Rangers will rove the front of the visitor center with publications until 5pm. The Visitor Center building, theater, and Yosemite Museum buildings remain closed

Starbucks at Yosemite Valley Lodge Closed This Weekend

The Starbucks will be closed this weekend 10/30 – 11/1. It is scheduled to reopen Thursday, November 5.

Traffic Delays Starting Monday

El Portal Road – Starting Monday, November 2,  there will be 15 minute delays with alternating one way traffic and signal lights with flaggers as crews begin repairing the bridge deck on the East Fork of the Cascade Creek near the Cascade Picnic Area. This work will continue for one week, through Friday, November 6.

Tioga Road – Starting Monday, November 2, there will be 15 minute delays or less along Tioga Road between Olmstead Point and Little Blue Slide as crews begin surveying for the rehabilitation of Tioga Road. This surveying work will continue through the end of November.

Fire Update October 30 – November 5

There are multiple fires burning in Yosemite National Park. Each fire is burning in fire adapted ecosystems in Wilderness. There are trail closures in effect. All fires may be visible from Tioga Road (Highway 120 through Yosemite National Park), Glacier Point, and high country vistas. Overall, smoke production is minimal, with columns rising around 1,500 feet from the ground and dispersing to the east. Smoke may be grey to brown in color. Park managers are working with local air quality districts to monitor smoke impacts in the park and local communities. Smoke from ongoing regional fires continues to impact the area. Please heed all signed trail closures and follow all traffic controls in areas you will be visiting.

RECENT NEWS

Wawona Road Delays Increased

Crews are working on a slide stabilization located approximately 1-mile north of the Wawona Campground.  As part of this stabilization there will be two 4-hour closures each day with a 1-hour opening period between the two 4-hour closures. These closures will extend for 3-weeks and they will be from 8AM to Noon and from 1PM to 5PM each work day through November 18. The Wawona Road will be closed at the Chilnualna Falls Road on the south end and Henness Ridge Drive on the north end of the closure area. The reason for these 4-hour closures is for safety to prevent vehicles from being hit by slide material or blast rock as the crews work to remove the loose rocks and boulders from this active slide area.

Summary of Delays/Closures:

Monday thru Friday

10/29/20 thru 11/18/20 = 4 Hour Closures (8AM to Noon & 1PM to 5PM)

11/19/20 thru 12/31/20 = 30 Minute Delays

No weekend or night work is scheduled at this time.
