Vision Academy Presents Lincoln And Liberty Choral Concert

OAKHURST – Vision Academy of the Arts invites the community to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of President Lincoln signing the Yosemite Grant in 1864, by attending the Lincoln and Liberty Choral Concert at Sierra Vista Church.

Songs of the 1860s will be on the lineup for two shows. The first is on Saturday, June 7 at 7 p.m., followed by a matinee performance the next day, Sunday, June 8, at 2:30 p.m.

Entry to the concert is gained by donation, with all contributions going towards scholarship funds provided by Vision Academy of the Arts, assisting area high school seniors.

To date, Vision Academy has awarded over $130,000 to local high school graduates in order to encourage young people to pursue “their own love of art in all its glorious forms.”

Organizers say this concert is the primary fundraiser for Vision Academy this year. “The Lincoln and Liberty Choral Concert will include entertainment from past and present scholarship applicants, as well as supporters of Vision Academy. Please help us support the arts and promote the artistic talent of our mountain students by coming to this great show,” says Vision Academy board member Jackie Byers.

Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church is located at 39696 Highway 41 in Oakhurst.

Vision Academy of the Arts promotes and is dedicated to the development of all arts in the foothill communities. Members of Vision Academy perform and support musical and instrumental concerts, and hold workshops and summer camps on the arts for people of all ages. Members volunteer their services, “to make Oakhurst and our neighbors a more beautiful place.”
