Vision Academy Concert, “Be The Change”

Be The Change Vision AcademyOAKHURST — Vision Academy of the Arts invites the community to a spring choir celebration of inspiration, with “Be the Change,” featuring a variety of songs designed to make a difference.

Choir member and Vision Academy board member Shiela Adams says the program is intended to capture the spirit of change that starts with love. Songs include Ordinary Miracles, I Dream A World, Glory, Truly Brave, the Climb and Thankful. Guests will also be treated to a Carole King medley including You’ve Got a Friend.

The free show (donations gratefully accepted) takes place at New Community United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. and again on Sunday, May 22 at 1:30 p.m.

The choir is conducted and accompanied by Jackie Beyers, and includes Lori and Corey Cole, Susan Moore, Nancy Iden, Waunetta Fuchs, Sherrie Brasher, Robin Wages, Darlene Greenwood, Nancy Morgan, Robin Blossom, Al Joyal, Kent Beyers, Lee and Karen Hulbert, Thea Sagen, Terri Anderson, and others. Rehearsals started back in January, once a week for two hours, and heated up recently to run every night preceeding the show. Students from nearby schools will assist with percussion and song. There’s also a raffle — tickets are $1 for a chance to win a beautiful John Peto photograph. Proceeds from the event will go into the Vision Academy of the Arts scholarship fund.
