MADERA COUNTY – The woman who died in a head-on collision on Highway 145 on Thursday has been identified as 61-year-old Charlotte Louis Boatright of Coarsegold.
Boatright was eastbound on Highway 145 from Highway 41 in a 2009 Chevrolet at approximately 40 mph, according to CHP, when for unknown reasons, she veered into the path of a westbound tour bus.
The tour bus driver said he did everything he could to avoid the collision, even driving off the right shoulder of the road.
No one on the bus was injured, but Boatright and her dog both succumbed to their injuries and died at the scene.
The accident occurred at 5:15 p.m and Highway 145 was closed for several hours as an investigation was conducted.
