Victim Of Coarsegold Homicide Identified

COARSEGOLD – The man who was killed in a family dispute on Little John Drive last Friday has been identified by the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Ryan Prosser, 41, has been identified as the deceased victim in the Mar. 30 homicide in Coarsegold.

Jacob Burdett, 25, of Coarsegold was arrested the following day and charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. Burdett is also accused of shooting and injuring his 41-year-old mother, who was transported to a Valley hospital.

Burdett was booked in at Madera County Department of Corrections where he is being held on a $1 million bond.

On Friday, Mar. 30, shortly before 7:30 p.m., Madera County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Road 416 and Robin Hood Drive in Coarsegold for reports of a disturbance.

According to witness statements, there was some type of altercation involving two vehicles traveling on Little John Drive.

The lead vehicle stopped at a residence, and there was an altercation involving the occupants, as well as a male from the residence.

At some point, Prosser was shot and killed, and Burdett’s mother was injured. Details of the incident are still being investigated.
