Victim Airlifted After Crash Near Fish Camp

FISH CAMP – Snowy conditions and excess speed contributed to a crash on Highway 41 just north of Summit Road this afternoon.

Just before 2 p.m., Woo Lam, 21, of Los Angeles, was northbound near Fish Camp when he entered a curve at a speed that was too fast and unsafe for existing snowy roadway conditions, according to CHP.

The 2013 Hyundai Elantra slid off the right hand shoulder and down an embankment, where the passenger door smashed into a large pine tree, causing major injuries to passenger Muhammad Putera, 20, also of Los Angeles.

Putera was flown by air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Woo sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene.

The two passengers in the rear seat were not injured in the collision. The roadway remained open throughout the incident, which is under investigation.
