Vehicle Fire Spreads To Vegetation Near O’Neals

O’NEALS — Firefighters quickly got a handle on a fire in the O’Neals area on Sunday that reportedly started when a motorhome caught fire.

Just before 10:30 a.m., crews were dispatched to reports of a motorhome fire at the corner of Highway 41 and Road 200, near the park and ride.

A family of four from Sanger driving northbound on Highway 41 in a motorhome RV noticed smoke coming from under the back of their vehicle. They pulled over at the park and ride at the corner of 41 and Road 200 to investigate and found the underside of the vehicle to be on fire. The vehicle was soon fully engulfed.

The surrounding vegetation then caught on fire, quickly growing to approximately 40 by 60 feet in size.

Resources from Cal Fire were called out, including a water tender truck, an air support helicopter, and a transport bulldozer.

The fire was quickly contained and all lanes were reopened.

There were no injuries reported.
