Vegetation Fire Near Bootjack

MARIPOSA — Crews are currently at scene of a vegetation fire in the Bootjack area of Mariposa.

Just after 12:30 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the fire in the 5100 block of Oak Grove Road.

The first unit at scene reported the fire at about 5 acres, burning in grass and oak woodland with a slow-to-moderate rate of spread. Two structures were threatened and air resources were ordered.

At 1:15 p.m. it was reported that power lines were down near the pond.

By 1:30 p.m., some of the air resources were released from the scene, and the power lines were reportedly de-energized.

Air Attack reported the fire had grown to 15 – 20 acres, while ground crews noted that access was tough due to the terrain and hose lays were going well.

At 1:55 the fire was contained at 9.5 acres.

Crews were expected to be on scene for another four-to-five hours.

The fire was controlled at 8 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
