OAKHURST — Crews are on scene of a vegetation fire burning on Hartwell Road behind Alice’s Cookhouse just off Highway 41 in Oakhurst.
The fire was called in about 12:35 p.m., and first engine at scene reported it at about one-quarter acre burning in grass.
Engines from Cal Fire, Madera County Fire and Sierra National Forest were dispatched to the fire which was reportedly started by someone using a lawnmower.
By 12:52 p.m., firefighters had the fire contained, and all resources not already at scene were cancelled.
Crews will be on scene for a while to do mop-up.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Initial reports do not generally tell the whole story.
