Valley PBS, With Support From First 5 California, Presents Winter Wonderland Event at Storyland for Central Valley Families

FRESNO — Valley PBS, with support from First 5 California, is happy to present the first Winter Wonderland at Storyland on Dec. 18 and 19, 2021. Winter Wonderland will provide an opportunity for families to experience an interactive, educational, and magical day. Children will get to meet PBS’s beloved monkey, Curious George, and have a free photo opportunity with Santa.

A snow yard for sledding and playing will be on the ground for families to experience. This will be a family-friendly event, complete with hot chocolate, cookies, crafts, and vendors for everyone to enjoy.

Gates will open at 9 a.m. and the event runs through 5 p.m. on both days.

“We are thrilled to bring this amazing family event to our Valley. Storyland is the perfect venue and First 5 California is an exceptional partner,” said Allison Hopkins, Valley PBS Development Director. “Valley PBS is all about education and exploring the world around you. We know that not all families can take a trip to the snow, so we decided to bring the snow to them.”

The snow play area will have over 10 tons of snow for a play and sledding. In addition to the ten-ton snow play area, families will be able to take photos with Santa and meet and greet with the crowd favorite, Curious George. Based on the popular children’s book, Curious George has been a top show since its premiere, both on-air and streaming.

There will be special performances and activities throughout the weekend. A craft area will be constructed for families to create special keepsakes to remember their visit. There will also be informational and vendor booths providing valuable community resources and last-minute holiday gifts.

“Storyland is the perfect setting for this enchanted family event. Families can follow the path through the park to find Humpty Dumpty, Three Little Pigs, Mother Goose, Alice in Wonderland, witches, pirates, a castle, and much more.

Winter Wonderland at Storyland creates an environment rich in learning and the opportunity for many first for our Central Valley families” said Wendy Batti, CFO of Jeffrey/Scott Agency and Interim Operations Manager of Storyland.
