Updated Road Conditions Report

Highway 41 – R2, chains or 4wd with snow tires are required, all vehicles must carry chains.

Highway 140 – R0, no chain requirements.

Yosemite Valley – R0, no chain requirements.

Highway 120 – R2, chains or 4wd with snow tires are required, all vehicles must carry chains.

Mariposa Grove Road – temporarily closed.

Hetch Hetchy Road – temporarily closed.

For highways outside Yosemite – Call 800-427-7623.

Highway 41 [Central California area] – chains are required on all vehicles except 4-wheel-drive vehicles with snow tires on all 4 wheels from 0.5 mile south of Fish Camp (Madera County) to 0.5 mile south of Yosemite National Park (Mariposa County.)

Highway 49 – no restrictions.

Highway 140 – no restrictions.

Highway 120 – chains are required on all vehicles except 4-wheel-drive vehicles with snow tires on all 4 wheels from 15 miles east of Groveland to the Yosemite Park boundary.

Mountain roads and passes

Highway 108 (Sonora Pass) – closed.

Highway 4 – closed.

Highway 89 – closed.

Other highways

Highway 395 [Central California area] – chains or snow tires are required from 25 miles north of Bishop to the junction of SR 167 (Mono County.) Large trucks with single-axle-drive towing two trailers are prohibited in chain control areas.

Highway 88 [Central california & Sierra Nevada] – chains are required on all vehicles except 4-wheel-drive vehicles with snow tires on all four wheels from Ham’s Station (Amador County) to five miles west of Picketts Junction (Alpine County.)

Highway 50 – no restrictions.

Interstate 80 [Northern California area & Sierra Nevada] – chains are required on all vehicles except 4-wheel-drive vehicles with snow tires on all four wheels from Truckee (Nevada County) to 2.1 miles east of Baxter (Placer County.)

Eastbound trucks are being screened at Applegate (Placer County.) Drivers must have maximum chains in their possession in order to proceed. Permit loads are prohibited. Westbound trucks are being screened five miles west of Reno at Mogul. Drivers must have maximum chains in their possession in order to proceed. Permit loads are prohibited.
